Welcome to Huatulco, located in the state of Oaxaca. A paradise located on the Southern Pacific coast of Mexico, where nine stunning bays of brilliant, indigo waters are found. With the imposing Sierra Madre del Sur as a backdrop, the 36 pristine beaches offer a paradise, secluded from the rest of the world, by 21,000 hectares of lush vegetation.
Description
Until the early 1980's this group of nine interlocking bays consisted of only one isolated fishing-village, with no water or electricity and was solely accessible by a dirt path. The terrain is formed by the rugged Sierra Madre del Sur, abutting the Pacific to create sandy coves. The lively village of La Crucecita is good for bars and restaurants and budget hotels.
In 1983 the first luxury hotels and a six-lane road network were built, soon followed by an airport, golf course and marina. But for the moment, Huatulco remains pleasantly undeveloped. So far, there are three developed bays: Tangolunda which is the most exclusive, Chahue which is still embryonic and Santa Cruz, where amenities are clustered around the marina.
Within the bays of Huatulco, the high level of urban infrastructure follows stringent international standards focusing on environmental protection, as well as great respect for the regional architecture.
The natural scenery invites you to participate in alternative, extreme, and ecological touristic activities.
